Personal Experience

As is often the case in life, one door closes while another opens. Steve’s path to becoming a business broker and Murphy Business franchisee began when the business acquisition he was pursuing to launch his newly patented product was canceled by the seller the day before close. Impressed by his handling of the situation, the seller’s broker offered Steve a position a few weeks longer at his brokerage, which Steve later accepted after obtaining his California real estate license.

Prior to becoming a business broker, Steve had a 20+ year professional career as an expert witness in the fenestration industry and was retained by attorneys, insurance companies, manufacturers and general contractors on hundreds of cases to provide expert investigation, testing, and testimony in the areas of product design, installation, construction defect, personal injury, and property damage.

Steve’s previous fenestration experience included the position of Technical Director of the California Association of Window Manufacturers’ (CAWM) where he managed the association’s certification program, co-authored and published window industry’s installation standards, staffed association meetings and represented association members at important state and national legislative events.

Earlier in his career, Steve was a QC and facilities manager for a U.S. automotive after-market manufacturing company in Asia, has held positions as engineering manager responsible in developing extrusion profile designs, fabrication and assembly drawings for customers with several aluminum extrusion manufacturers.

From engineering/design management, to helping others, as well as himself, invent and patent products, overseeing industry certification programs, co-authoring national standards in the construction industry, to international manufacturing management, and providing expert witness services to the insurance and legal industries, Steve has traveled and developed a diverse range of advanced technical acumen a built a solid foundation that serves clients well as a Murphy business broker.
